The pilot pick-ups at ABC are picking up speed, with the Alphabet ordering one comedy and one drama. The comedy project is Counter Culture, written by Stephnie Weir and executive produced with Claudia Lonow, from Sony TV where Weir has an overall deal. The multi-cam centers on “three aging sisters running their family diner together in West Texas who find that sibling dynamics are always getting in the way of getting the job done”. Unsurprisingly, the drama picked up is Gilded Lillys, written/executive produced by KJ Steinberg (The Nine) and co-executive produced by Shonda Rhimes. The period script, from ABC Studios and Rhimes’ Shondaland (based at the studio) is set in a 1895 New York City luxury hotel, where class warfare runs rampant.
